  5. This file contains important information not covered anywhere else.  
  6. Reading it carefully will increase your enjoyment of your new CD ROM.

  10. Running the installer (SETUP.EXE)
  11.     OceanLife does not have to be installed on your hard drive--it 
  12. can be run straight off the CD from the File Manager.  However, the 
  13. installer will give you the option of installing QuickTime for
  14. Windows version 1.0 and/or a convenient, double-clickable icon in the 
  15. Program Manager.
  16.     To run the installer, simply double-click on the file SETUP.EXE 
  17. in the File Manager.  Alternatively, you can highlight the file and choose 
  18. Run from the File menu.

  20. About QuickTime for Windows
  21.     Choosing to install Apple's QuickTime for Windows will copy all
  22. the necessary files to your hard drive.  You will then be able to view 
  23. QuickTime movies and compressed PICT images on your Windows PC.  This 
  24. technology is seamlessly incorporated into Ocean Life, but you may want
  25. to copy QuickTime so you can view other movies and graphics.  These are 
  26. available from many sources including bulletin boards, clip media volumes, 
  27. and user groups.
  28.     QuickTime for Windows is provided for your own use.  If you would 
  29. like to distribute it in any product or service, you must obtain a seperate
  30. software license from Apple Computer; you may contact Apple's software 
  31. licensing division at 408/974-4667.

  33. About the OceanLife projector (OLIFE.EXE)
  34.     This is the application program that contains the text, graphics,
  35. and QuickTime for Windows movies that make up OceanLife Volume 1.  If you 
  36. choose to copy it to another location (such as your hard drive), you must 
  37. include all the files in OLIFE.EXE's directory or it may not play 
  38. properly. Copying it to a hard drive is only recommended in cases where 
  39. CD ROM access is slow and causing significant performance delays.

  41. About the Ocean Life movie file (QTMOVIES.DIR)
  42.     This directory contains the QuickTime for Windows movies that
  43. OceanLife needs to play.  It must be available to the OceanLife 
  44. projector (OLIFE.EXE).

  46. About the JPEG movie file (OLJPEG.DIR)
  47.     The movies in OLJPEG.DIR are provided for users who may want to include
  48. an OceanLife movie in another presentation. The video is of higher quality than those
  49. used by the OceanLife application (OLIFE.EXE). To view the JPEG movies, it is best 
  50. to copy them to a hard drive with a fast access time, then open individual movies 
  51. with the Movie Viewer application.  Running the OceanLife installer and selecting 
  52. Install QuickTime for Windows will provide the Movie Viewer application and all 
  53. necessary files (DLLs).
